元旦簡介：

在當代，元旦指公元紀年的歲首第一天(即1月1日)。自西歷傳入我國以後，元旦一詞便專用于新年，傳統的舊歷年則稱春節。

而在此之前，元旦一直是指農歷歲首第一天的。元是“初”“始”的意思，旦指“日子”，元旦合稱即是“初始的日子”，也就是一年的第一天。

元旦由來：

1949年9月27日，中國人民政治協商會議第一界全體會議決議：“中華人民共和國紀年採用公元紀年法”，即是我們所說的陽歷，為了區別農歷和陽歷兩個新年，又鑒于農歷二十四節氣中的“立春”恰在農歷新年的前後。

因此，農歷正月初一改稱為“春節”，陽歷一月一日定為“元旦”，至此，元旦才成為全國人民的歡樂節日。
